OGILVIE RACEWAY SET TO INDUCT TWO DRIVERS INTO THE INAUGURAL OCTANETRADE.COM MINNESOTA MODIFIED HALL OF FAME ON AUGUST 3RD

Silver Bay, MN (July 27, 2010) – The Race Minnesota Modified Series (RACEMN) presented by OctaneTrade.com in partnership with Ogilvie Raceway will induct its inaugural class of drivers into the newly established OctaneTrade.com Minnesota Modified Hall of Fame at the August 3, 2010 RACEMN Event.

The 2010 OctaneTrade.com Minnesota Modified Hall of Fame inductees include:

Ron Jones 2010 - Chris Burback Photo

Ron Jones of Princeton, MN

Princeton, MN driver Ron Jones is regarded as one of the best open wheel Modified drivers to ever strap into a car by most anyone in the industry that has tracked Modified Racing since it’s inception in 1979. When Jones teamed up with legendary car owner Chub Daniels of D&M Performance, the duo created a team with the car to beat wherever they raced for many years. Ron not only dominated around home, he won at nearly every racetrack he ever competed at. Over the years Jones has wracked up more than 500 Modified victories garnering some of the biggest wins in Modified racing along the way. Ron was the first winner of the now famous “Night of a 1,000 stars” held at Hancock County Speedway in Britt, IA. Ron was also the first “Fall Jamboree winner” scoring the win at the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, IA back in 1999. If one was to document all the special event wins Ron has accumulated over the years, it would take months. Ron Jones has represented Minnesota and Open Wheel Modified Racing on a National scale for many years and for that we have chosen for Ron to be one of our first two inductees into the OctaneTrade.com Minnesota Modified Hall of Fame.

Mark Noble of Blooming Prarie, MN

The owner of over 600 career open wheel Modified wins, Blooming Prairie, MN legend Mark Noble has stood the test of time in Modified racing. Many “one hit wonders” have come and gone in the long career of the man in the green and white #74. Noble, the three time IMCA SuperNationals Champion, also etched his name in stone as one of the best winning the Harris Clash at Knoxville Raceway in 1996. Mark Noble and Ron Jones not only represented Minnesota and Modified Racing by winning events all over the country, they struck up a rivalry that will likely never be seen again. If you’ve ever been a part of a “Steele 30″ or a “Gopher 50″ at the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna, MN you’ve likely seen this rivalry more than you will anywhere. Noble and Jones fans from all over seem to convene each year to watch them duel at the big 1/2 mile in Owatonna. Many years the Modified portion of the Gopher 50 overshadowed the Late Model portion which was supposed to be featured. Mark’s dedication to the sport over the years has gotten him high praise from some of the best Modified drivers to ever strap in. Kelly Shryock in a 2008 interview on dirtcast.com pinpointed Ron Jones and Mark Noble as the two toughest competitors he has ever faced in his storied career. Coming from a 10-USMTS National Champion, that is high praise. For his dedication to the sport and the way he’s represented Modified racing as a whole we induct Mark Noble as one of the first two drivers in the OctaneTrade.com Minnesota Modified Hall of Fame.

These drivers will be introduced as the first representatives of the OctaneTrade.com Minnesota Modified Hall of Fame on August 3rd at Ogilvie Raceway during the Race Minnesota Modified Series (RACEMN) event. Join us for a celebration of these two great with a ceremony at the facility including a banner drop to hang from the ceiling honoring each inductee to the MMHOF.

A website has been launched for the OctaneTrade.com Minnesota Modified Hall of Fame at: www.mmhof.com that will include information and pictures, and will celebrate the careers of these modified warriors of the dirt. The physical location of the MMHOF will be established at the Ogilvie Raceway during the 2010-11 off season.

On behalf of Barry Braun and Ray Beste of RACEMN, Cliff Sasker of North Central Speedway, Nate Fischer of Ogilivie Raceway and everyone involved with the RACEMN Modified Series we look forward to working with the drivers, fans, pit crew members and sponsors to make the 2010 season a success.

Ogilvie, MN (June 22nd, 2010) – Race two of the RACEMN Modified Series presented by Octanetrade.com took place Tuesday at Ogilvie Raceway with a flare for the dramatic witnessed during the WISSOTA Modified A-main. After reigning victorious in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified A-main earlier in the evening, Blaine, MN ace Clayton Wagamon shocked the world picking up the win in the WISSOTA Modified finale as well. Tom Silver dominated the 20-lap WISSOTA Mod Four A-main completing a great night of racing at the steeply banked 3/8 mile oval located near Ogilvie, MN.

The WISSOTA Midwest Modified A-main was the first item on the docket with 21 drivers making the call for the 25-lap main event. Jason VandeKamp and Wagamon manned the front row starting duties as head flagman Layne Roberts dropped the green. VandeKamp took the lead from the get go while Wagamon settled into second. VandeKamp looked strong out front during the early stages of the event while the field sliced and diced behind. A myriad of yellow flags halted action with VandeKamp still out front 12 laps into the event. With the cross flags showing Wagamon used the extreme high side of the speedway to his advantage. Clayton stole the lead from VandeKamp while tenth starter Jason Miller was the car on the move with ten laps remaining. Miller, who went to the rear of the field earlier in the event after a tire change, marched all the way back up to third with three laps remaining. Miller was able to dispose of VandeKamp for the second spot while Wagamon cruised on to the mighty impressive feature win out front. In the end it was Wagamon ahead of Miller, VandeKamp, Allen Gessell Jr, and row four starter Dave Mass. Gessell Jr, Shane Sabraski, Wagamon, and Ryan Bowers all scored heat race wins earlier in the evening for the WISSOTA Midwest Modified division.

The 20-lap WISSOTA Mod Four A-main was next to roll out onto the racetrack with Josh Abrahamson and Tom Silver on the front row. Silver beat Abrahamson to turn one and took the lead as the 16-car field filed down the backstretch. Silver looked strong early on and was scored the leader at the conclusion of the first lap. On lap three, Silver moved down a groove and began to distance himself from the rest of the field. Back in traffic, 16th starter Brandon Kellen began to work his way to the front. Kellen moved up ten positions during the duration of the A-main finishing a nice run in sixth. Silver continued to lead out front with Abrahamson locked in a battle with Dean Larson, Kyle Thell, and Conrad Schwinn for the second spot with just five laps remaining. In the end Abrahamson would take the spot. Out front it was all Silver taking the win in dominating fashion. Abrahamson turned in another great run coming home second with Schwinn third, Thell fourth, and Dean Larson the final member of the top five. Schwinn was the victor in heat race one with Abrahamson reigning victorious in heat race two.

The final event of the night belonged to the WISSOTA Modifieds with 21 of the best in the business making the call. Herman, MN legend Scot Danzeisen took the lead from the pole on lap one while the field sized up in tow. Track conditions were perfect with drivers utilizing multiple grooves, especially Dave Cain. The Corcoran, Mn native cracked the top five just 9 laps into the event after starting 14th. The first yellow of the event waved on lap nine which would put Wagamon on the backside of Danzeisen for the restart. When the green flag dropped, Wagamon climbed the ladder in turn one blasting by Danzeisen for the top spot off of turn two. Cain continued his onslaught toward the front as he moved into third while Wagamon raced out front. Cain moved into second one lap later and immediately began to pressure the backside of Wagamon for the lead. On lap 17, Cain made a power move to the inside of Wagamon entering turn one. Dave would make the move stick as he powered by for the lead exiting turn two. Back in traffic, Deer Park, WI native Rick Kobs had one of the fastest cars on the speedway. After transferring through a B-main earlier in the show, Kobs moved into third from his 17th starting position with just ten laps remaining. Cain still held the lead while Wagamon began to battle back on the outside. Wagamon stole the lead via the cushion in turn four with nine laps remaining while Cain regrouped back in second. Cain drew close in the closing laps but it was not enough to deny Wagamon his first ever WISSOTA Modified win. Cain had a stellar run coming home second ahead of Kobs, Danzeisen, and Grand Rapids, MN traveler Jeff Broking. Broking, Joey Jensen, Craig Thatcher, and Danzeisen were victorious during qualifying action earlier in the evening for the WISSOTA Modifieds, who boasted 38 entries.

STATEMENT FROM RACE MINNESOTA MODIFIED SERIES (RACEMN) REGARDING ACCIDENT AT NORTH CENTRAL SPEEDWAY AND CONTINUED OPERATION IN 2010

Silver Bay, MN (June 18, 2010) – The Race Minnesota Modified Series (RACEMN) kicked off in fine fashion on June 16, 2010, at North Central Speedway in Brainerd, MN, with 108 cars, a good crowd, and some spectacular racing conducted by the talented field of drivers on the track. While we enjoyed the initial success of the night a tragic accident occurred at the end of the WISSOTA Mod 4 feature that has personally impacted the series, many families, and the racing community in general.

North Central track promoter Tim Boeder, track worker Keith Nelson, and Mod 4 driver James Eblen were victims of this horrific crash and continue to be hospitalized at the time of this release. RACEMN continues to keep these men in our thoughts and prayers and can only hope for the best of outcomes for these gentlemen.

Tim Boeder, affectionately known in the racing circles as “Big Daddy 37” has been a key to the success of the RACEMN series, a staunch supporter of the concept, and more then anything believed in our organization and the people that run it. He has given us the break we needed to get the initial concept off the ground and scheduled along with our partners at Ogilvie Raceway. On top of this, Tim is a great friend that we enjoy many conversations, good times, and a common bond to strive in the face of adversity.

It’s Tim resilience, the support of our drivers, the support of the racing community, and an obligation to our sponsors to proudly proclaim that the “show will go on.” RACEMN has enlisted additional help and will continue to add personnel to ensure that the series is run to the highest standards throughout the remainder of 2010 and beyond. The next scheduled event on June 22, 2010, will take place at Ogilivie Raceway with a tribute for those injured at Brainerd and a freewill donation decal for sale to the general public. At this time, the make up WISSOTA Modified feature for the June 16 event is being discussed and details will be released.

Our return trip to North Central Speedway will be on Labor Day September 6, 2010, with the USMTS and Kenny Wallace for the now aptly named “Big Daddy 37” event. We will be preparing this event as a celebration for those injured at the June 16 show.

On behalf of Barry Braun and Ray Beste of RACEMN we can not say enough for the outpouring of support from the racing community. It is your support that will give us the drive to continue this great promotion in 2010 and beyond. A Special Thanks to Cliff Sasker and KT Torbert of North Central Speedway, Nate Fischer of Ogilivie Raceway, Joe Stariha of the Como Modified Series, Todd Schwartz, Jeremy Harrar and everyone involved with the RACEMN Modified Series including the awesome drivers, fans, and industry folk alike.

RACEMN LIDLIFTER MARRED BY TRAGEDY AT NCS

The RACEMN Modified Series presented by Octanetrade.com lifted the lid on it’s inaugural season hosting the series season opener Wednesday, June 16th at North Central Speedway (Brainerd, MN). A very talented group of drivers assembled with a 108 race teams packing the pits for the groundbreaking event. Fans, drivers, pit crew members, and sponsors from all over the Upper Midwest experienced and enjoyed some great racing before the tragic events that took place later in the evening.

The WISSOTA Midwest Modified A-main was the first item on the docket with 25 laps being put up on the board. Elizabeth, MN standout Travis Saurer took the lead using the high side of the speedway as the field stacked up behind. Dustin Scott settled into second early on behind Saurer as Shane Sabraski and Dan Wheeler began to make their way to the front. Wheeler, who started 10th, entered the top five and immediately began to close in on the lead trio. Scott stole the lead from Saurer on lap six using a power move on the bottom of the speedway to do so in turns three and four. Saurer continued to run the extreme top side of the speedway with Sabraski and Wheeler digging on the bottom. Back in traffic, Jason VandeKamp made some nice moves even with a flat tire. VandeKamp, who started the event in 16th, end a great run in 9th. Sabraski moved by Saurer for the second spot with nine laps remaining and began the long process of running down Scott for the lead. Sabraski closed in on the final lap but was never able to make a serious challenge as Scott went on to take the first ever RACEMN Modified Series checkered flags. Sabraski had another stellar run in second ahead of Wheeler, Saurer, and North Central Speedway regular Dan Severson. Wheeler, Scott, Sabraski, John Broking, Brandon Davis, and Chuck Olson all picked up heat race wins earlier in the show for the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds.

The WISSOTA Mod Fours rolled out onto the speedway next with Andy Deters and Josh Abrahamson manning the front row starting duties. Abrahamson took the lead at the drop of the green with Deters settling into second. A myriad of cautions kept the A-main from gaining any momentum before an incident took place in turn one that would cancel the rest of the night’s event. WISSOTA Mod Four pilot James Eblen’s #46 machine was launched into the air entering turn one where it hit a couple of track officials and knocked Eblen unconscious. As you well know, Eblen has been released and our prayers continue to be offered up daily while Tim and Keith recover. Abrahamson was awarded the win ahead of Corry VanMil, Rob VanMil, Andy Deters, and Tommy McCough.

All 21 drivers were locked in for the night’s 30-lap WISSOTA Modified finale when the incident occurred during the WISSOTA Mod Four feature event. As of right now, that feature event will be made up during the co-promoted RACEMN/USMTS show at North Central Speedway on Monday, September 6th (Labor Day).

We want to thank everyone who has been supportive through all of this and we look forward to continue to deliver you great events each and every time RACEMN makes a stop at your area facility.

Please continue to keep up with Tim and Keith on their CaringBridge sites and for more information on the RACEMN Modified Series log onto the series website at www.racemn.com.

RACEMN SERIES OPENER POSTPONED

Due to inclement weather, the RACEMN Modified Series presented by Octanetrade.com opener scheduled for tonight, Tuesday, June 15th has been postponed. A rain-date has already been scheduled and the show will roll off next Tuesday, June 22nd at Ogilvie Raceway.

With drivers and fans from all over the upper Midwest planning to be in attendance, RACEMN Officials and Ogilvie Raceway promoter Nate Fischer decided the best route would be to take the rain date to make the experience the best it can be for both the drivers and the fans. “I admire Nate for the decision he made,” commented RACEMN Modified Series Director Ray Beste. “With drivers and fans making long drives and the grounds already soaked, it was best to make the decision early in the day before they were all out on the road heading to the track.”

The already scheduled RACEMN event for tomorrow, Wednesday, June 16th at North Central Speedway will go on as planned with a fabulous day of weather in the forecast. We hope to see each and every one of you tomorrow night for the first ever RACEMN Modified Series event!

Wallace, an admitted Dirt Track Guru, will climb behind the wheel of his Federated Auto Parts #36 Modified looking to give Jason Hughes, Jon Tesch and the traveling stars of the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) a run for their money. “Adding Kenny Wallace to an already unbelievable day of Modified racing make this one of those can’t miss event,” remarked North Central Speedway Promoter Tim Boeder. “Not only will Kenny be a huge hit with the fans, but for the drivers as well by seeing how well they can match up with such a talented racer.”

Along with the addition of Wallace to the program, the RACEMN Modified Series will be filmed and documented along with the USMTS in preparation for the Dirt Knights Television Show set to debut on the Versus Channel in January 2011. With Dirt Knights stars Corey Dripps, Mike Spaulding, Al Hejna, Scott Green, and Jon Tesch all in attendance, it gives the co-promoted show an opportunity to be documented as such. “We’re really excited about the Dirt Knights TV show from a fan stand point to begin with,” commented RACEMN Series Director Ray Beste. “The fact that they want us to be a part of their show is awesome. They’ve got a great thing going and we’re just excited to be a part of it. It also gives us the opportunity to show off the talent and personalities we have on the RACEMN Modified Tour.”

On behalf of Tim Boeder (North Central Speedway), Nate Fischer (Ogilvie Raceway), Barry Braun (RACEMN), and Ray Beste (RACEMN), we look forward to working with all the fans, drivers, pit crew members, and sponsors who plan to take part in the RACEMN Modified Series in 2010.

RACEMN TO ESTABLISH THE MINNESOTA MODIFIED HALL OF FAME AT OGILVIE RACEWAY

Sauk Centre, MN (December 15, 2009) – The Race Minnesota Modified Series (RACEMN), an open wheel modified racing series set to debut in 2010, will not only promote the open wheeled modified warriors of Central Minnesota, but will also take a step back to promote the rich history of modified racing in the state of Minnesota with the creation of the Minnesota Modified Hall of Fame to be housed at Ogilivie Raceway in Ogilvie, MN.

The Minnesota Modified Hall of Fame (MMHOF) will debut during the summer of 2010 with the opening of a museum at Ogilivie Raceway. The first class of nominations will be conducted on the RACEMN website in early spring of 2010. A subsequent fan vote will determine and declare the first two inductees into the Minnesota Modified Hall of Fame.

The inductees will enter the MMHOF during the Tuesday August 3, 2010, race date at Ogilvie Raceway on the RACEMN schedule, as this event has now been tabbed the “Minnesota Modified Hall of Fame Day.” Ceremonies and other festivities will follow before, during, and after the event.

“The historical aspect of racing is always something that has been very interesting to me. Some of the finest modified pilots the sport has ever seen have come from the state of Minnesota. The design of the MMHOF is to celebrate those drivers and make it into an annual event with plenty of fan interaction, something that is a key part of our series foundation,” stated RACEMN Series Director Ray Beste.

More details and information on the MMHOF promotion will be announced in the coming months.
